When is your first record also your third?
The Anglo-Australian band The Bee Gees, long before their disco phase, released in 1967 their first album available in North America on Polydor, entitled “The Bee Gees 1st”. It was actually their third album altogether, haven released two previous records to the Australian market only. One of those, the 1966 “Spicks & Specks”, was “re-released in Canada in 1968, also on Polydor, as “Rare Precious & Beautiful”.
Their 1965 debut album, entitled “The Bee Gees Sing & Play 14 Barry Gibb songs”, has yet to have a North American vinyl release and commands quite a premium. An unofficial CD release came out in 2021.
