Dawn — Candida

The group Dawn was originally a recording session group, which included Tony Orlando. He was recording under this “pseudonym” in order to avoid problems with his other label, CBS, with which he was under contract. As the songs became popular on the radio, he soon invited two session back up singers, Thelma Hopkins & Joyce Vincent Wilson, to become the “real” Dawn. The title track was number one in five countries, & top ten in several more, including the US where it was number three. It reached number two in Canada. “Knock Three Times” meanwhile hit number one in both the UK & the US, as well as Canada. As a whole the album peaked at 35 on the Billboard 200, & 26 on the Canadian album charts.
