Sixth studio album by the Irish singer, her first not to include any songs in the Irish language. She does however sing in Japanese, in the track “Sumiregusa”, a word translated as “Wild Violet”. She also sings in “Loxian”, a fictional language created by Roma Ryan, Enya’s primary lyricist & wife to producer Nicky Ryan. The album reached number 4 on the Canadian Album chart, & 6 on the Billboard 200. It was certified platinum in the US.
The album was dedicated to TV producer Tony McAuley, who had originally commissioned Enya to write music for his documentary on the Celtic people, which subsequently became her debut album. McAuley died in 2003.
