Pearl Jam — Vitalogy

Third studio album from the Seattle, Washington rock band. Less grunge rock infused than their first two albums, focusing more on hardcore and punk stylings. The album title, as well as the inside and outside artwork were all inspired by a medical textbook found by Eddie Vedder at a garage sale. The non-traditional shape of the case is meant to imply a hardcover book. Upon release of the CD and cassette versions, two weeks after the vinyl release, the album became the second fastest selling album in history, behind only the band’s previous album, Vs. Before the CD and cassette releases the album had already hit 55 on the Billboard 200 on vinyl sales alone. Eventually the album would peak at number one on that chart. It further earned Grammy Award nominations for Best Rock Album & Album of the Year. Certified 5x platinum in both the US & Canada.
