Although the second album released by the Swedish duo of Per Gessle & Marie Fredriksson was doing just fine in their home country as well as the rest of Europe, EMI America didn’t think they would resonate with American audiences well enough to justify a release there. Until a US exchange student, studying in Sweden, bought a copy & brought it back home, subsequently giving it to the local radio station. It became a local hit, & soon was a hit everywhere else, too. It would go on to be certified platinum in the US, 5x platinum in their native country, & 6x platinum in Canada.
