Debut album by the country band from Florida. Originally members of another artist’s backup band they chose to continue playing after that artist retired. Playing local gigs they made it onto the tv show Star Search, where they won the grand prize, $100000 & a recording contract. Changed their name from Savannah to avoid confusion with another band with a similar name. Sawyer Brown came from Sawyer Brown Rd (which apparently ran between two farms, Sawyer farm and Brown farm) which the band came upon looking through the phone book for inspiration. The album hit number two on the Billboard country charts, & 140 on the Billboard 200. “Step That Step” was their first number one single.
