Various — A Very Special Christmas

First in a series of albums produced with holiday music in support of the Special Olympics. Produced by Jimmy Iovine for A&M Records, the series was Iovine’s idea as a way to honour the memory of his father. Iovine’s wife Vicki, who volunteers with the organization, suggested that the project support the Special Olympics. Jerry Moss & Herb Alpert, cofounders of A&M Records, supported the project, which raised millions of dollars for the cause. In the US the album has been certified 4x platinum, and is in the top 20 for highest selling holiday albums.
